From the perspective of the proportion of patent authorization, MediaTek’s patent application situation can be roughly divided into two stages. The first stage is from 2002 to 2015. The number of patent applications in this stage is basically rising every year, and some years are slightly falling. But overall, the number of applications is good, and at the same time, it also has a good proportion of granted patents. However, since 2016, although the number of patent applications can still maintain a certain number, the proportion of authorized patents has dropped significantly. Taking last year as an example, the proportion of authorized patents was only about 11%. From the perspective of patent citations, MediaTek’s TOP4 patent publication numbers are currently US6332127B1, US5481296A, US8085013B2, and US5615384A. These four patents have been cited 991 times, 796 times, 736 times, and 632 times. For example, the company’s most cited patent, the patent with the publication number “US6332127B1”, has been cited by well-known domestic and foreign companies, including Toshiba, Dell, Google and other companies.
